I thought hydroponics involved fish, but those are apparently not involved in the first youtube film I watched.
It is my understanding that the system with fish is called aquaponics.
When he is talking about mineral water, is it easy to DIY to add the correct minerals to the water? Or would it work to use natural water from a steam?
Sorry, I did a quick review of the videos and couldn't find a reference to the minerals you mention. So far I have bought a ph meter, a pH up and down adjuster and the
plant food for hydroponics. They consist of the big 3, Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium. They could have other micro nutrients, I don't know. The nutrient kit I bought has three bottles and has recomendations for different mixes depending on the life stage of the plant. I'd be interested to here a professionals method, as I'm a skeptic and wonder if I was sold three bottles when one would do. :-)
I haven't got any plants into my grow tube, yet, I had a little setback, and let my seedlings get to dry. They all laid over! Most of them survived and it is time to move them to the grow tube, I expect to make that happen this week. I don't expect much as this is very late in the season, but this is learning before spring comes. I planted 8 types of seeds, my cilentro, arugala, and Little Gem lettuce failed to sprout, but I have Bibb lettuce, Chinese kale, Swiss chard, Romaine lettuce and Chinese Cabbage sprouted.
Also some Basil that I rooted from cuttings.
