Why do my line breaks get all messed up?
« on: March 28, 2018, 04:59:45 PM »
Seems like something wonky is going on with line breaks.

If I press enter twice while composing a message, I usually end up with a super-wide break, like so.
If I only press enter once, I end up with no break at all.

If I go back and forth and back and forth including some edits after pressing the preview button, I can sometimes get it to look how I'm trying, like so, but it's painful. (edit: and like this, it almost always requires editing the post, at which point my extra breaks have magically appeared and I can delete them)

Don't want to edit the original post anymore, but in case it matters, I'm on a mac with the latest (v65) Chrome.

Sometimes it's confusing based on the width of the page. If I'm writing a big magnum opus post (ha!) I try and change page width before posting to help spot anywhere that I don't have a line break and thought I did, or vice versa.

Can't remember if it was ARS or Cheddar who suggested typing the longer replies out in Word (or equivalent) and then cutting and pasting here. It also keeps your brilliant words from vaporizing, which is helpful.
