Where did the Case Study subforum go?
« on: January 08, 2024, 08:18:25 PM »
All in the title, really: the Case Study subforum is not appearing on the homepage. I found references to it--plus I remember it existing--but links to it result in an error.

Example link: https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/index.php?board=26.0

The message I receive:
Quote
An Error Has Occurred!
The topic or board you are looking for appears to be either missing or off limits to you.

I'm pretty sure I haven't committed any banworthy but Case Study specific offenses, so hoping mods can clarify the issue.

I get the same error from your link. However, I've discovered I can see the subforum when using as a guest in incognito...

ETA1: And if I log in in incognito, the subforum disappears. It really does behave as though I've been banned from that subforum.

ETA2: The problem persists while tethering from my phone, which suggests it's not linked to my IP address. (I know there's some known issue with users getting incorrect ban notices according to IP address, so thought I'd check.)

I am accessing the site with Google Chrome on a Windows laptop. I have cleared my browsing history, restarted my computer, and tried a different Wi-Fi network, with no change to the situation: I can see the subforum when I'm not logged in, and it disappears when I log in.

I have written a Case Study I'd like to share, which is how I noticed the issue in the first place, so this is kind of a bummer.

@arebelspy Sorry to pester, but any tips? I'm stumped. :/

Darn. That stinks. I’m sorry, I hope @arebelspy or someone else is able to help!

Looks like when you were added recently to a particular private subforum your permissions got broken. I believe it should be fixed now.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.

I think I have now lost access to said private subforum. You can attend a Camp Mustache or you can post a Case Study, not both!
