Just checking...
This site is almost all text; very little graphics. And yet it takes actual minutes sometimes to load completely.
I go to a site like Imgur, loads in a flash despite massive amounts of gifs/pics.
So is it me, or anyone else experiencing a walking through quicksand load time? I know we are getting what we paid for (free site=can't complain), so mostly just wondering regarding the servers/loadtimes and whether it's something the powers that be are aware of or if the issue is effecting a larger portion of the members?

Have you tried the "Notify" approach in Suggestion for New Rule/FAQ to Optimize Use of Forum (https://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/forum-information-faqs/suggestion-for-new-rulefaq-to-optimize-use-of-forum/), instead of "Show new replies..."?
-
It's not even for new replies - just the landing page takes ages, and I can click into a forum section and have it take a long time too. It may be just me tho since no one else seems to be experiencing.
ETA: using Firefox, latest version and Safari latest version. And have checked loading times at the gym (on my phone) and still does it.

No, sorry. What browser do you use?
-
No, but I have to log in at LEAST twice, usually three to five times before it allows me in. It keeps saying I timed out while posting or that I have to wait two seconds. Every single time. Load time is ok for me though. :::Shrug:::

Yes, incredibly slow to load relative to other sites.

I recognize that by using "Show new replies" over "Notify", that I am actively negatively impacting the overall performance of the forums for everyone. That every thread I choose to continue to participate in that causes the database to bog down when it's accessed because of its age or its size, that I am negatively impacting the overall performance of the forums for everyone.

This is a community, and I am not so selfish as to want to deprive others of basic access to the useful information in a timely and simplified manner just because I'm a creature of habit and don't want to change how I use something. All you PTF lovers... when you actually see the alternatives, the evidence, recognize that the behavior is socially ingrained and not actually logical, try it for yourselves, and see the difference in server load that it causes... would you not say the same thing?
Those using PTF and "New Replies" instead of the notify function bog down the entire site, per Daley's statements above.
