Hello,
Can the description for the off topic area be changed? I saw that the wage gap article was stopped due not being aligned enough with the core Mustachian tenets. As a male who makes more than double what my wife makes (for reasons totally unrelated to the usual gist of the wage gap), I could see the different perspectives forming and hardening. I thought it was interesting to follow as I tend to think of topics much more in a continuum-esque style rather than black and white. It's not a big deal that it was stopped but it did strike me as odd due to it being in the Off Topic area. This was the mod note -
"The topic has been locked due to way, way too much spinning around and moderation effort.
As much as I'd like to let this go around and around forever, it's not getting anywhere, and it's doing very little to contribute to our core purpose of facilitating early retirement."
However, the description when you read the off topic section seems like anything would be on the table. Here is the section description -
"A place to discuss anything and everything. Want to chat about sports, politics, the weather, or any other miscellaneous topic that doesn't fit in the Mustachian discussions above? This is the place."
If that's not the case, can the description be updated? I'm sure there is a lot more nastiness that I don't personally see that goes on behind the scenes but I'd hate for something important like the wage gap to be taboo, even in the Off Topic section which is currently described as the place for "anything and everything".

Maybe it should have been locked for "Too many armchair scientists."

However, the description when you read the off topic section seems like anything would be on the table.
I would focus on the first half of the mod message, not the second. The mods are volunteers with too much to do already. Keeping a contentious thread alive diverts attention from other things that could use moderating like the spam reports. I read the second sentence to be saying "so we are no longer willing to keep babysitting", not "and it doesn't belong in the off topic forum/doesn't belong anywhere in the forum".
