kill the search box
« on: March 16, 2017, 01:04:32 PM »
I propose we hack the php files and remove the search box and search button from every page on this forum. There are SO MANY posts that begin with "I tried to search the forum, but..."

If we remove the search feature, nobody will be confused when the search doesn't work.

better yet, the search box should just redirect to open a new page with the following google search:

https://www.google.com/?gws_rd=ssl#q=site:http://forum.mrmoneymustache.com/+SEARCH_TERMS

Where SEARCH_TERMS is whatever was in the search box.

This. I can never remember the exact format for site search.

I'm fine with redirecting to Google except for in the journals and other hidden subforums, where Google can't index.
