Ignoring a thread?
« on: July 22, 2015, 08:25:26 AM »
Some fora I'm on have a function where you can ignore a thread so it doesn't show up in unread posts, etc. I'm trying to streamline and wouldn't mind being able to hide threads that aren't interesting/relevant to me. Is there a way to do that on this forum?

If you mean mark a thread as read permanently, I don't think you can do that. If you want to ignore say all journals, then go to the journals section and mark all as read (but you will have to do this on every visit).

If you meant to stop a thread from showing up in the "show new replies to your posts" section,

the only option is to delete your posts in that thread. Which is stupid.

I want to ignore a number of threads in a forum, so they don't keep rising to the top of my view with "new" marked next to the topic.  Ideal would be filtering them out entirely.  Less ideal would be the ability to prevent them from showing "new", so I treat them as already read.

Adding to this thread since it's the same request in 2016 as someone else made in 2015.

Either admins have a way to do this or a replied to thread a mile long.

Unfortunately there is no way to do that in the forum software we're using.  I too would love this feature.  :)

Is it possible to ignore a user's posts? I'm getting tired of seeing [MOD EDIT: Redacted.]'s thought-diarrhea everywhere.

That's too bad, but thanks for explaining it.
