Forum front page layout
« on: September 20, 2016, 10:22:35 PM »
Minor suggestion:

The Forum section descriptions take up a lot of room, but I'd guess most users read this a couple times ever, not daily when deciding what to read.

Meanwhile, the Last Post subject line to the right is always truncated, a small obstacle in deciding which one to read.

Is this something that can be solved by adjusting the column widths?

I think it's a good idea.

The problem is that I think we'd have to find a new forum "theme"--and then, as whenever there's change, there would be an uproar from users who don't like the new look, etc.
I am a former teacher who accumulated a bunch of real estate, retired at 29, spent some time traveling the world full time and am now settled with three kids.

I (rarely) blog at AdventuringAlong.com. Check out the Now page to see what I'm up to currently.

Perhaps the most targeted and simple thing would be to edit the current theme to widen that column.

Personally I don't get much use out of the front page and always look at the unread posts since my last visit. Bogleheads has a pretty similar forum underneath, but its front page just show all the most recently active posts from all subforums. I kinda like that.
