@clackapedia Just a suggestion, but would moving to a cloud hosting provider solve many of the slowness issues that users are complaining about? Moving to, for example, AWS would bring scalability and flexibility, and also you can offload content to edge locations using CloudFront, for AUS/NZ and European users.
I used to notice slow times to post, don't see them anymore. If you were to make the site adaptive to demands, you wouldn't have to worry about a physical datacenter, hosts, memory, storage, etc.
Just a thought. My 2 cents. Ignore if impractical.
