Title: Side gig sending 3D printed stuff?
Post by: ketchup on June 08, 2019, 06:34:59 PM
Anyone done this?  I've wanted an excuse to buy a 3D printer for years and just realized that they're not as insanely priced as they used to be.

Could buying one and selling 3D printed stuff actually be profitable?

I knew a guy who had a couple of 3D printers and made light diffusers that go on cameras. He did really well with those. Sold them for something like $50-60 each and paid $500-$1000 for the printers. I think he was selling a couple a week with minimal advertising.

Are you thinking of printing stuff where people send you the file?
I looked for such a service once, a while ago.

One of my cousins does this.  She 3D prints personalized items, like key chains or photo frames with a person's name on it.  She has certain designs and the customer just tells her what they want it to say and what color they want.
