My list of Successful Side hustles

Carpet Cleaning.  A friend bought a Rotovac kit and toted it around in his minivan.  He was a good salesman but did not like the work.  He sold out a while later.  He was doing it as a full time gig and did ok.  As a part time gig it would have been great.  You can purchase equipment used quite inexpensively and if you study up you can learn to do awesome work fairly easily.

Handyman  another friend is extremely knowledgeable on anything from plumbing to electrical and does very high quality work.  He has never charged enough for his services but has still made good money.  There is a guy on Youtube that makes really good money and explains how he does it as a handyman.

Lawn company  Another friend has a mowing company that he only works part time.  He has a 3/4 acre lawn and bought a really nice mower he is a motorhead.  His neighbor asked if he would mow his lawn---He said sure.  Word of mouth and he hired a friends college age son to work full time in the summer.  He paid the kid $20 per hour and bills out between 50 and 80 per hour with the machines.  My friend now has 3 crews and still works his own full time job.  Mainly my friend handles payments, and maintains the equipment.  Another friend's son had a pickup and bought a new Honda self propelled 21" mower every year.  He went after the small lawns and did really well.

Shed and Deck builder.  Minimal carpentry skills for these and if you do a couple you will easily know how to bill.

House painter.  A guy I used to work with got fired for missing work too often.  He had just helped paint his Mom's house.  He had some business cards printed and rode his bicycle (he did not have a car) around neighborhoods and knocked on doors of houses that needed paint.  He would introduce himself ask if they would like a free estimate.  He got plenty of work.  He would only work from 7 AM until noon.  Did not want to work in the heat of the day and who wants to work full time anyway.  When the job was done they always look so much better.  He had the customer pay for the paint and pick it up and he would paint half the house and require a draw for half the labor.
