I want to dump eFax because it's too expensive...suggestions?
« on: January 02, 2018, 10:45:53 AM »
Hi Y'all,

I want to dump eFax because it is $152 per year! And I rarely need to fax anything, but for the off chance I need to send or receive a fax from a certain fax number, I do need an actual fax number.

Is there a cheaper (or free) option anyone knows of where I can port my number away from eFax?

If I need to get a new fax number, that's fine.

Much appreciated.

I use Faxage on the Lite plan. It costs $3.50 a month base, and then you get charged per minute after that. My total monthly bill for 3-5 faxes per month ends up being between $5 up to $8 in a really hot month.

It will give you a local area code number, but I'm not sure about porting over your current fax number.

Thank you, CPA Cat -- that's exactly what I needed and why I asked here.

When I dumped eFax they offered a reduced price, so you might want to try that.  FWIW, I dumped them anyway.

VOIP.ms offers full virtual FAX service now, both inbound and out, for only $1.99/month plus 2.9¢/minute airtime used billed at six second increments, and they provide both FAX to email and email to FAX gateways.... but they limit service to US and Canadian numbers only.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
