Side Hussle Question
« on: March 03, 2018, 03:59:20 AM »
I am considering doing a little bit of freelance work on the side to make some extra cash. At my job I am Linux/UNIX admin that does a lot of small development projects. I am considering doing the smaller jobs I see on the freelance sites such as setup a wiki site for us, write a program to import stuff from a spreadsheet to database, etc that would take no more than 5 or 6 hours per week. My time to work on these projects would be early in the mornings. I have been writing code and managing systems for long enough where I am pretty confident in my abilities. I haven't done much with web applications or mobile devices, but would be willing to learn if it is worth it.

Has anyone done this kind of thing before? Is it worth while? What kind of hourly rate could I expect? Would a sole proprietorship work or should I incorporate as an LLC? How much time would I spend on taxes, accounting, etc?
