Logo, branding, design company you would recommend?
« on: July 23, 2018, 06:44:09 PM »

Anyone have a recommendation for a company that does business logos, designs, branding.

The only company I have heard of is 99 designs. Has anyone used them? Your opinions?

I have to think there is a talented mustachian out there doing this as a "side hustle" and or "retirement job"

Beware of what you get on 99Designs. I have used them before as I tried not to get in my own way. The designs were not only bad, I noticed many of them actually used copyrighted images. Some of them were actually existing logos of other companies but in different colours/different names but same main image. Needless to say I cancelled the job right away.

Have you Googled design or branding firms in your town/city?

I now have someone who does this in my team so we can potentially help.

I got that vibe from 99 designs. They seem to have a lot of templates and then mix a match to give you a semi customized product.

Do you have a website or online content of work you employee has done that I could view?

Check out Reformation Designs (reformationdesigns.com). Ryan is a guru with branding.

I've used Fiverr and Upwork to good success.

Fiverr for the easy stuff. Upwork for things requiring consulting and thought and iterations.

I tend to look for the portfolios to match things that I want and both of those companies allow people to upload examples of their work you can look through.

Can you give any tips for getting started using Fiverr?  I've got a rough logo design that'd I'd like to get 'done' (and as a vector graphic so I can take it a print and/or sign shop).

I used fiverr for my graphics too.  You're probably not going to spend $5 as the website used to be exclusively, but you'll still get good work done for under $30

Quick tips for Fiverr:

1) Similar to having a shopping list before going to the grocery store, clearly specify exactly what you want in a text file. Use clear, concise, declarative sentences. In the case of getting to “done”, I’d articulate the current state and the desired final state.

2) Then login and search for someone who does work you like. Message them and share what you wrote up. As another person posted, be sure to check all of the prices. I also like to check reviews in addition to their profiles.

Hope that helps! If not, let me know the specifics and i’ll Do my best

I used Fiverr for something I was working on with a friend. A design agency would have cost $800 for the $20 that we spent on Fiverr, and we were really happy with the resulting logo.

You could even ask a couple different people on Fiverr to design things for you and pick the stuff you like best.

While I don't argue that sometimes you need a full-service agency (I wouldn't know when, but I'm sure it's true), I think you're getting good value with Fiverr until then.

I just used Fiverr to help design a logo for my husband’s side hustle. I didn’t look too closely at the bios of who I was picking, so I ended up with people in India. There was a time difference and a little bit of a language difference in terms of how they understood what I was asking for, but overall I was happy with the product. I spent $50 for a logo and then a “social media kit” to get started on some social media sites. Ridiculously cheap in my opinion.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
