Craigslist Facebook Marketplace Arbitage
« on: October 16, 2019, 03:28:56 PM »
I recently noticed that when I post old crap I'm trying to get rid of to Craigslist, I get nothing. At the same time, when I post to Facebook Marketplace things sell within 24 hours.

I started poking around a little, and noticed that probably because of this, things where I live sell for a lot less on Craigslist than they do on FB. So, I sold nearly all of my living room furniture on FB, then bought much newer/nicer stuff on Craigslist with the money.

Now I'm hunting for items to purchase on craigslist and sell on FB for profit. I imagine this will eventually even out, but seems like a good potential side hustle for the moment.

You're probably right. I did this for a living with cars for a year and a half. It was great fun, relatively easy money and changed the way I saw the world.

You want to share any pointers on doing this? I have the (possible) advantage of living in a location where cars sell at a premium relative to the lower 48 and I like to drive...

It's not so easy to describe in a short post....

In your situation, you'd have to deliver them to Alaska, which would mean transporting them there. So, you'd need a partner working as a buyer in Seattle (or British Columbia?) to inspect the cars, pay for them, load them (or drive them), etc.

I don't know the Alaska market well enough to know how much money a person could reasonably earn at this.

I doubt it would be worth it if making money was the main goal, but if I could pay for the trips outside to visit family it would be a pretty good gig.
