Semi Automatic Washing Machine Repair Help!
« on: October 20, 2014, 09:41:40 AM »
There's a problem with the spin tub on our semi-automatic washing machine. More often than not, the spin tub refuses to spin. During these occasions, if I try to manually spin the tub, it won't budge in the direction of spin (clockwise), but will happily spin counter-clockwise.

Anyone know what is up with the spin tub? Where do I begin looking? A google search and Youtube search yielded no results unfortunately.

Assuming it's a top loader, the drive belt may be worn, or the transmission or friction shoes underneath may be shot.  If you're very DIY or mechanically inclined you may be able to fix this.  A belt is pretty easy, but the transmission stuff is harder.

Youtube may have the answers, but you need to modify your search terms.  Start with brand and model #, search for belt, then the parts sites' tutorials if they have them.

Brand and model would really help here.
