Title: Replace furnace inducer?
Post by: EliStache on September 17, 2013, 12:32:41 PM
I was told by a technician last spring that I need to replace the inducer on my furnace at a cost of about $500.  Anyone out there know if is this is a task worth trying to do myself?  I am not particularly handy or mechanical.  Any advice would be much appreciated!

(Or if you know how to do this and can help me in a work swap, let me know!  In Seattle.)

I didn't even know what it was and googled it. Sounds like it's a fan motor.  I'd certainly try to fix it myself.  A quick google search found prices between $78 and $225 for the part.  Got a cordless screwdriver with 1/4" hex bit and a 6-in-1 screwdriver?  I bet you can do it.
