Minor Mold Cleanup
« on: February 14, 2016, 05:38:39 PM »
I'm starting to get some very minor mold accumulation on the ceiling above the shower. Mostly just looks like very small spots of discoloration, but I know they won't stay small or minor for long. I'm from the southwest, so mold anywhere other than food is a pretty novel concept. Anyone have suggestions for getting rid of it? Note that this bathroom has NO ventilation (ergo, mold), so I'd really like to avoid bleach and other nasty chemicals if possible. The closer I can get to water and elbow grease, the better.

While I'm here... we have lots of iron in our water, so we're getting red rust deposits pretty much everywhere. Any suggestions for cleaning those?

Thanks in advance!

Mold--buy some Concrobium. Relatively cheap and works great.

Go to Lowe's or Home Depot and buy some concrobium or other mold control and follow directions on the package.  Bleach is likely more harmful to your lungs than the type of mold accumulating from shower condensation.

Install a bath fan.

CLR works great for cleaning rust.  (or Calcium or Lime) :)
