Over the past few years I've been building a room in my basement. My house is less than 1000 sqft. So, a little space that's just mine sounded really nice. Anyway, there's a toilet down there with the top cover broken and no sink. It turns out that I like washing my hands and I like saving water.
I'm pretty good with a pottery wheel so I've designed a vessel sink that will sit on a piece of wood (walnut/cedar maybe). It redirects water from the inlet valve to the sink, then into the overfill tube. There's a few plans for this design out there. Where I think I've simplified and improved the plan is around the strainer drain. Instead of having the sink be a made out of ceramic and the strainer drain be made out of metal and store bought, I'm making them as one piece. So no leaking and no measuring. Ceramics always shrink by 9%-12% so it can be hard to get something to be exact for a fitting the first time.
