Ok so this was not a cheap project exactly but is a really nice feature in my little house it can heat up to 400 square feet and in combination with the electric wire I put in the floor (that runs mostly off the solar) It makes for a comfy space and so far I've been able to get wood for heating for free and you can get a $10 permti and go thin the forest yourself (helps with fire abatement) I bought a slab of soapstone and wrapped a little hobbit stove from England (cost for stove around $900, cost for soapstone around $800 plus a saw blade). Thinking of putting a Sketchup model and instructions together. Hit me up if you want one. The idea behind the soapstone is that it holds heat. makes the heat last around an extra hour after the stove is out plus it makes a nice stand.
