Leaking Air Conditioning Pan
« on: July 25, 2014, 03:46:55 PM »
My tenant's air conditioning water pan is leaking.  It is a small drip at the corner of the pan.  I need to find a way to fix this mess.  I have no idea how to go about this because they run their A/C 24-7, so keeping it dry for longer than over night is not an option.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Any option found by googling "underwater patch kit" feasible?

Boat patch putty works underwater.

Might try your local auto store.  They have gas tank repair putty that works under gasoline; might have something for underwater.

Should be easy to fix.

There are a few caulk-tube sealant out there that will work on wet surfaces.  Pro Seal is one.  Dry the area, apply to the leak, plan to replace the pan as one hole usually means others are on their way.

It really depends on the condition of the pan. If it's degraded enough, I'd stick a bucket under it temporarily and plan on getting a new one put in ASAP versus dicking around with a patch.
