Title: Laminate over tile with radiant heat
Post by: littleweedontheprairie on September 25, 2017, 10:15:45 AM
Our house has ceramic tile in some bedrooms. The previous owner (who built the house) chose this type of flooring as it works best for radiant heating (hot water circulates in PEX tubing installed under the floor), which is installed throughout the house. The tile does indeed a great job at radiating the heat, but frankly I find it a little odd and not very cozy for the bedrooms. I read laminate wood can be installed fairly easily over tile if it's in good shape (it is), and that laminate wood works for radiant heating.
My question is: can I install laminate wood over the existing tile without compromising the radiant heating efficiency and/or safety?
