Title: Key fob
Post by: missundecided on January 05, 2019, 09:15:31 AM
The key fob to my '06 Toyota stopped working. I replaced the battery. Didn't help. I reprogrammed the car/key. Worked for about five days then sputtered to death again. What is my next step?

Thanks for the link. Electrical systems can be ruled out because my unlock buttons internally still work, according to that blog post. The physical key still works so it's not mechanical. I no longer have the second fob so I can't test whether it's the fob itself. So I guess I need to go to the dealership to get it resolved and it's no longer DIY? Is there a cheaper alternative?

I bought a 2nd FOB on eBay and had my local battery store connect their box to my car and program the FOB.
