Is it wrong that I get excited when something breaks?
« on: November 15, 2016, 07:57:01 AM »
The other day, after changing the oil on my 20-year-old car, I noticed a tiny amount of coolant escaping through a nearly-invisible crack in the top of the radiator.  My first thought was "that's a big part.  It's going to be expensive."  But then I looked it up, and it's only $55 on rockauto.

And I got excited.  I've never had the chance to replace a radiator before!  I've done all sorts of other stuff on cars, but never a radiator!  Woohoo!

...is there something wrong with me?

Nope, I feel the same, until you hit a problem that turns a problem into a mess, and it's your only car. That's when it can go from challenging to a suckfest.

If there is no time crunch it can be fun, but if it repair is needed quickly it can be a little more stressful.

When I pulled into the parking lot at the office this morning, there was a prominent stream of steam coming out from under my hood.   I noticed it a couple weeks back, too, but didn't investigate it at that point.  At least I know the reason now :)

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
