I learned how to rewire a light fixture!
« on: April 24, 2025, 05:08:50 AM »
I know it doesn't seem like much.  I've been wanting to refurbish this thing for 15+ years now.  I bead blasted and painted it last summer.  Then hired an electrician to rewire and install it, but he ghosted me.  I replaced another fixture a couple of weeks ago and that gave me the confidence to take on this one.  Isn't she pretty?

 Nice job. It's a win-win-win-win.

a} got project done you've been planning to do for many years
 b} learned new skill
c} saved $$ by doing it yourself
d} looks good, visually standing out from the white wood ceiling.

Looks nice! The wiring is the easy part. The hard part is everything else. Did you have to pull that sucker out, or could you access everything by opening up that fat bulb in the middle?

The wiring runs under the half-globe which is held on by the bottom finial.  There was lots of cursing at it though, lol.
