Cross country ski broken bindings
« on: February 29, 2020, 05:37:51 PM »
I broke the binding on my forty year old cross country skis.  They are the old 3 pin bindings.   Debating whether to replace the bindings or just move on to new skis.   The skis which have served me well but maybe it is time.  Thoughts? Advice?

I'd move on. XC skis aren't that expensive to begin with, so after 40 years, I think you're eligible for an upgrade :)

Are they 40 year old skis under one owner, i.e. you? How much skiing do you see yourself doing in the future? These would  be the questions I would be asking myself to figure out whether new skis are warranted or not.

If you were nearer by, I'd give you my old skis with the three pin bindings which I don't use and the boots have rotted away to nothing.  Then you could use my old bindings on your old skis and keep on going for whatever time it takes you to do the DIY!  Bet someone near you has some old skis with working bindings you could do this with.
