How to fix a sagging dining chair

the wood still looks good, and we still love it, but the pub chairs now have a sagging cushion, it has a faux leather finish and i can see the cushion at the other side coming out, not like we have big butts but......

pics? by "the other side" do you mean the whole cushion is sagging through the bottom of the chair, or do you mean you can see foam coming out through the vinyl in heavily worn spots?

the top part still looks new, its the bottom part that's giving up, im thinking if we can just put a thin sheet of wood across it, it will work, but maybe there are other options?

ok so the cushion is probably either supported by a net of webbing, such as
 
or a solid piece of something (probably wood) inside the cushion, such as in this tutorial: http://www.diynetwork.com/how-to/how-to-re-cover-a-dining-room-chair/index.html. seems unlikely that a piece of solid wood would sag that much, but it could be something weaker like a thin sheet of masonite or something. It's the support structure that's going bad, not the foam or the fabric, so it shouldn't be too hard to figure out what holds the whole thing up, tear it out, and replace it.

yes!! the cushion looks ok, its the support that's giving up, you got it right, sorry i had a hard time explaining it, this is very helpful, thanks so much!
