Ok, so I have a back patio on my house that was already in poor shape when I got it. It was obviously a 'homeowner special' as the screening was very loose, almost billowy, and hadn't even been trimmed on the edges. I helped my grandfather replace the screening around his pool as a kid, and I am pretty handy so I figured it would be a piece of cake. I got the screening, spline, and the spline tool, and replaced on of the sections. I did better than they did but nowhere near an acceptable job.
While I know the general process, I need to know how to make it tight. Youtube has a bizarre paucity of videos on screening, and the examples that are present seem to almost all be doors and window screens that are detached and can be laid flat and moved around, not patios or porches.
Any advice I have gotten has been nothing but a recipe for elephant soup, with gems like "just pull it tight", etc.
I am trying to find out if their is a specific technique to use, or a pattern that needs to be followed (like top first, then bottom, or something) or if it is just not a one person job, etc. Anybody who has experience with this, I would appreciate some SPECIFIC tips.
(If you just tell me to "make it tight" I will find you, and I will kill you. )
