House repair- roof thing falling down?
« on: June 01, 2014, 12:16:15 PM »
I don't know what this part is called, see the picture attached.

If you follow it from left to right, it starts to slant, so all the way at the right corner of the picture its hanging down.

What is that part called and how do I fix it?

It looks like your soffit is falling down.  It looks like maybe it's vinyl, if so either its fasteners are bad, or the underlying structure has failed.  You'll have to figure out how it's held up and probably undo a fair amount in order to redo it.  Hope that helps.

How can I find out how it is attached? I cannot see any nuts, screws, bolts, or anything holding the system together. Do I just go there and pry it off and try to reattach it? Is this something that sort of "clicks" in place like legos?

if it is the simplest type, there is a track or groove for both the front & back sides to slide into.  One groove is against the house, and one is out towards you.  The soffit should still be flexible enough to "bend" it back up into the slots.  If it snaps - well, they're cheap

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
