Frugal Laundry Detergent

We made home-made laundry detergent some time ago. It works ok, except on certain female stains. Even pre-treating doesn't get these stains out.
So, what is a cheap kind of laundry detergent with excellent stain fighting abilities? Thanks!

By female stains, I assume you mean blood? Hydrogen peroxide removes blood from clothing if used in a timely fashion.

Dawn + Hydrogen peroxide removes most stains if the clothing hasn't been dried in a dryer. My best tip is to wear black undies then you don't worry about stains.

My mother taught me to wash out blood with cold water when it's still fresh. Hot water sets it. I've had moderate success using hydrogen peroxide on old blood.
