How to build a door for this utility shed?
« on: October 14, 2018, 02:59:06 PM »
I bought a cheap firewood shed, on sale, with the hope of making it into a regular utility shed by adding a door. Now that it's assembled, I'm not sure how to do that. It's not too flimsy, but it's also not super solid either. Just wondering if anyone would have advice on how to build a door for this shed.

How about a tarp with plenty of grommet holes and some bungee cords to hold it in place. That would give you a fairly weather tight door with minimal cost but takes a little longer to open and close. If you want to enter it frequently, the only other option would to build a stick wood frame that you can fasten to the face of the shed and then stud it in for a door. It doesn't look stout enough to me to just hinge a door to what's there and have a full width door cantilevered out.

Build and inner support to hold the doors. You will need to make a frame, since that siding likely won't support heavy weight. You can do it out of some 1" and probably be fine. Just make a light door and be done.
