DIY Cleaning Silhouette Blinds?
« on: February 22, 2018, 06:37:22 PM »
Hey all,

We have these annoying (and ugly) silhouette blinds that the previous homeowners installed. They are probably due for a cleaning, unless we want to just replace them completely, but I think it would be pretty pricey to replace considering there are a total of 8 windows that have these blinds installed :( I've seen that it's recommended these be washed by professional blind washers using ultrasonic washing devices (does anyone know how much these services cost btw?).

That said, has anyone ever tried DIY cleaning this style of blinds before?

Googling yielded some results one of which looks interesting:

I seem to recall seeing this before so I must have searched previously... another person on a Houzz thread said he used a Bissell Carpet cleaner and ran it over the [extended] blinds while they were laid out on the floor (this seems like a riskier way that could really do some damage to the blinds). I am concerned as most of these have had a lot of sun exposure so it would suck to be in a position where we clean one and it falls apart on us... it doesn't seem like this is the kind of thing you want to screw-up.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
