Couple Landscape Questions
« on: February 14, 2016, 01:09:31 PM »
Hello,

I recently removed a large chunk of blue lily turf in a natural area in my yard because it was taking over the grass. I may have went overboard... and now have a large space to fill.

I will be at least mulching this area. I am looking for ideas on low maintenance plants that may add some color and do not detract from the hydrangeas (?) behind it

I am not a huge fan of putting another ground cover down, because i want something more uniform.

what are your thoughts? Thanks for the help in advance.

Before anyone can help you with any reliable information, you'll need to at least specify what zone you are in and in what part of which country.  Cheers~

I was gonna post that my favorite online place to get difficult to find native plants is rarefindnursery.  But it looks like you might be in Hawaii(?) so I have no ideas on that one.

I have dwarf mondo grass in some places, easy, indestructable, and you can take chunks, split them and replant. It is a ground cover, I guess, but it's attractive and where I am (zone 7, DC) completely maintenance free. You don't even have to trim it and it doesn't go brown here.

Hmm, otherwise it depends on where you are to recommend specific plants. Is it shade or sunny? I see trees.
