Bath Tub Cleaner for Resurfaced/Acrylic Tub
« on: March 27, 2018, 09:11:38 PM »
Hey hey,

I have always used Scrub Free by Arm and Hammer to clean my resurfaced bath tub.  I was always told to use a 'non abrasive' cleaner that is 'safe for acrylic.'

However, now most stores have stopped carrying it.

I am struggling to figure out what to use instead.  The reason I always liked it is because it did not let off any fumes and was 'tame' to my body but was good at cleaning the tub.  I have tried to use other things that are safe for acrylic like 401 and Tilex and Lysol but they are always so HARSH in terms of the fumes and they leave me sick with a headache.  Yes, I do opens windows and run the fan but it just isn't worth it.

I have also tried vinegar with dawn but that does NOTHING to actually clean the tub.  ha.

I am tempted to just use Scrubbing Bubbles and let the stupid liner tear apart.  It has already started to peel a little over the years.

Do you know any cleaner that is not so toxic?    Ideally safe for acrylic but I may take any at this point.

Thank you.

What exactly is it that you're trying to clean?

If it's soap scum, then dawn + very hot water is very good. If it's mineral deposits from hard water (usually a yellow film), then soak it in straight vinegar for awhile and it will wipe right off.

Since it is resurfaced, make sure you use a rag or soft sponge only to do the actual wiping
