DIY "Crock-o-stat"
« on: April 18, 2019, 11:30:34 AM »
Has anyone made one of these? I'm looking for instructions.

It's a hack for crock pots that allows you to adjust the temperature. My crockpot runs very hot and leaves my food rather tasteless so I want to make one but I'm not having any luck finding instructions. Every link I've followed lands me in an internet wasteland.

I haven't done it for a crock pot, but *if it's a simple on/off* machine - key is that you can flip a mechanical switch to "On" and it will then stay in the "On" position regardless of if power is connected or cut, the same method I used for my A/C should work:
I just turn the A/C on and plug it into one of these:

There might be similar devices at a lower price point.

Interesting! The hacks I've read about involve attaching a dimmer switch to the cord somehow but I wouldn't want to try that without some good solid instructions. This might be a safer way to go.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
