My dad stopped by the other day with an old Powermatic bandsaw he got for free from the local community college that was shutting down their industrial shop. This was his birthday gift to me (he knows me well).
So while the bandsaw was free, it needs some work. It'll need new tires, thrust bearings, throat plate, oil in the transmission, and blades. Probably $150-$200 all in.
It'll cut both metal and wood, but I'm more of a woodworker.
Now I need some good bandsaw projects. Any ideas?

Veneer work if it's big enough to resaw. (The Wood Whisperer has a good video on band saw tuning for when you get to set up.)

Wow, nice score! I wouldn't mind picking up some good old iron like that!
