How to Retire Forever on a Fixed Chunk of Money
« on: November 30, 2018, 06:37:25 AM »
I really enjoyed the latest blog post. Well thought out and back to basics. With the market taking a break from the nearly non-stop upward procession we’ve had over the past several years, it’s a nice reminder from our glorious leader to hold the course.

Agreed!  I felt like it covered nearly all the basics in one post.  It would be a good starter post for someone new.

It's great to see an analytical post with examples and numbers. Bringing back some credibility when all the latest coverage of MMM has been soft.

I too agree that this was a solid post back to the starting points that helped put this place on the map.  I've been around now for about three years and I was missing some of the articles that attached me to this community in the first place.  I'm still a ways away from my day walking into the sunset as I only have about 50% of my target amount, but that is about 87% more than I had three years ago when I found this place, and articles like the one just posted kept me motivated to stash that cash instead of my old pre-MMM self being more prone to splurge on things that likely would not bring me any long term happiness.  I do like the peek into insurance and I will still be walking away a bit before I get to move on to Medicare and have to cover the gap.  This will likely be my single largest monthly expense, and is one of the areas I have the most concern about.  I have been blessed lately with having to only really need something from a doctor once a year, but not sure how long that will continue as I age.

Agreed. I like the post as well. Seems like most of the post lately have been about buying/building stuff. I commented to my wife this morning that 2019 might be a great year to ease up on the travel and hammer more money away.

In the comments section I asked if not for the blog would they have nede return to work after the divorce. He said no and he intends to write a article about the economics of divorce.

That's interesting. I'm looking forward to reading that one.

Hmm.  Could be interesting but it is also just one viewpoint.  We've got two divorces (mine and my wife's) that would lead to two very, very different articles.  I have covered that on my blog, but will see what Pete discusses.  Also would be curious if it was MMM lifestyle related or otherwise, but he may not choose to divulge that much.

It was a much needed good article/Read for me. I was beginning to not read his articles anymore but this one was good to see.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
