Looking For A Post "Welcome To The Future"

Hello all, 

I'm looking for a post I read a couple of years ago.   However, I think that it was a on a different blog.    I'm fairly certain that I was reading the MMM blog, and it was an article about optimism or something like that, and someone wrote in the comments a link to a post titled

"Welcome to the future"

And that linked blog post gave a tour of all the good stuff currently available, clean water, etc.

Two specific things I remember in that post are

"Future is not available in all areas"
"Instead of squirrels, you may receive extra birds"

After a bit of Googling,  I haven't been able to find it.  Anyone know what I'm referring to ?

I have no idea what Blog or Post you're looking for specifically, but you might enjoy reading Enlightenment Now by Steven Pinker. The book discusses some of the ways that we can prove objectively that this is the best time to be alive in all of history. That article was probably referencing the ideas in that book or something similar as their source.
