Church receipts : tax-deductible?
« on: December 22, 2017, 05:59:51 AM »
In the process of getting married at the church, I have put down an amount for the actual ceremony, as well as for getting confirmed. They have given me receipts in both cases. Is this considered charitable giving? I am getting something in exchange, so I am not sure and I don't want to abuse the system, nor leave money on the table. They are registered in the IRC list of charities. Thank you.

The church sends out charitable receipts in the new year. People generally put the cash in envelopes during the collection just for the record keeping.

In other words, your church will tell you next month. The official records are the ones you use, not the ones you have now.
