Would you buy this car?
« on: August 16, 2014, 07:38:56 AM »
It's a 2004 Toyota Corolla in good condition, with 146K on it....price is $5900. I can pay cash, no financing. I hear Corollas can go forever. What do you guys think?

I recently bought an 06 corolla with 100k for 7000, and I did quite a bit of price comparison in the months leading up to the purchase... Mine had 100k miles and I paid 7k... It was a one owner, immaculate, every service record, sport package (which is laughable on that car, but just so we are comparing apples to apples)... One variable is your location... I'm in the Atlantic, southeast area and those cars aren't in super high demand around here... If you are in this region I'd say you could get it for closer to 5000 maybe, but 5900 prob isn't a bad price esp if it's a one owner and well cared for.
Btw, I love the car, I was driving a 99 and it feels like a space-age luxury ride in comparison. Solid car, you'll love it, as with any toyota. : )

I just sold a 2006 corolla with 208,000 miles for $4,200.  One day to sell, so I think closer to $5k was possible if I wanted to wait it out.  Everything worked perfectly,  switched to biking.  Always got better than epa mpg.

I know someone else with a 2005 that had 250,000 and still going strong.

I think my wife got a screaming deal, but she paid $6,000 for it when it had 60,000 miles just for comparison.

Absolutely! Around here an 06 w only 60k would be 8000 to 8500 easy...

I'd say 5900 is very decent price for what you are looking at if it's in good shape... You might do better if you wait, but those cars usually sell pretty fast, so be ready to jump when you see what you want in the right price range... Good luck!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
