Travel hacking/CC churning
« on: January 11, 2019, 06:27:42 AM »
I found this article about a Southwest CC promotion:

https://www.businessinsider.com/southwest-companion-pass-deal-for-new-cardholders-2019-1

and it's so tempting-- essentially B1G1 free tickets. I've read a little on this forum on cc churning and I don't want to put in all the time it takes. I'm just wondering if this is a good one to take advantage of the companion pass? And how do you find $4000 worth of expenses to put on a credit card that quickly? The only thing I can think of is my car insurance payment comes out at the end of the month, but that is only $840. You can't pay your mortgage with a cc.

Short Version for putting that much on a CC so quick: Gift Cards.
Read up on some that are like-cash. (with a 5-6 dollar fee per 500 dollars) that you can buy with credit cards. It's an ever changing space, but that's the methodology to front load a CC and spend the rest of the year with those cards.

Income tax. Pre-pay utilities, gym membership, property taxes, Netflix etc.  Some of these will require paying a fee.  Worth it to get the bonus.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
