I was laid off 7 weeks ago. Been job searching but have enjoyed the freedom. This week I have received 2 job offers, either of them are ideal. But whatever, I just need them to help me bridge the gap to ER about 4 years from now. (or sooner)
Financial Status:
Current stash is $740k invested and $300k paid off house.
Expences: Could whittle down to 30 - 35k a year (SAHW and 3 kids)
This weeks job offers:
Job 1 - Normal business hours (B2B wholesale HVAC sales rep) - 20 k less than my last job!
Job 2- 20k more/year but some nights and Saturdays (Auto sales manager)
Option 3 - Enjoy more time off and keep searching or go PT or go self employed
I am thinking of taking job one and keep looking as it will be a little less pay/title from my last job. Job 2 is inline with my last pay range, but I am not sure if I like the idea of the longer hours etc.
Questions:
Is the extra cash worth job number 2?
What about Part Time moving forward? Would anyone do that in my example?
My tolerance for full time work for someone else is wearing thin these days....I like my freedom but have a family to take care of as well.
