Where do you buy good (but cheap) bicycle replacement parts?
« on: January 14, 2015, 09:23:50 PM »
Hi,

I'm wondering where you guys buy your replacement parts?

1)  Bike tubes?  (I need 27 x 1&1/8 - 1&1/4 - 700 x 28c-32c, 36 mm Presta Valve - Bontrager brand)
2)  Bike tires?
3)  Bicycle chains?

I just sunk around $30 for a good bike tire + tube, and I'm wondering if there's a cheaper way in the future.  Of course I do have patches for the future as well...

EDIT: I have an old hybrid bike...

For the past two or three years, I have been getting much lower prices on consumables (tires, tubes, chains, cassettes) from several British wholesale outfits than I can find anywhere locally or even mail-order in the US.  Most of these companies offer free or heavily discounted shipping also.  Try Ribble, Probikekit, Wiggle, and the like.

In the US, Nashbar and Bike Tires Direct;  Jenson and Universal Cycles are also good for low end (i.e., commuter bike, not fancy road race bike) parts.

If you are in the US try pricepoint.com, ebikestop.com

The following is UK based, but supplies internationally: chainreaction.com

Disclaimer: we are in Australia, so these work for us.
