I meal planned for hte weekend based on what's in the cupboard, fridge, and freezer (all bought on sale).
Tonight: pork souvlaki with homemade fresh pita and tzatziki, tomatoes, spinach, cucumbers, and red onions. (Veggies bought on sale last week, pork bought on sale from the freezer, tzatziki made from homemade yogurt). Should feed 4 with leftovers enough for a lunch for 3 people on a total ingredient cost of 10$
Tomorrow: Chicken marsala (mushrooms and chicken were both on sale last week...), on rice, with a spinach salad and balsamic vinaigrette. (Total cost: less than 10$, should feed 3+2 lunches)
Sunday: Butter chicken (with a lot of peas, because veggies are good and tasty in a curry sauce). Total cost: also less than 10$, should make dinner for 3 + 4 lunches
Breakfasts will be pancakes and waffles (pantry ingredients, negligible cost), lunches will probably be cheese and chive omelettes with homemade bread and a side salad of spinach (costco bag of spinach = 3 meals worth of salad for 3$, cheapest you can get around here in winter, and everyone likes it).
So: including all ingredients, I've got 3 days of food + 4 days of lunches for a family of 3 for 30$CAD, and it's gonna be GOOD. And even better: I don't have to pull on pants and go to the grocery store.
I win at life right now.
