Verizon Rewards?
« on: April 20, 2016, 12:55:36 PM »
I realize the fact that it's Verizon will rule out a ton of people here, but I had a question about their rewards program.

Apparently my mother has 200,000+ rewards points, is there any easy way to convert these into cash? Gift cards seem the obvious choice, but you can only redeem points for ~10% discounts on gift cards, which isn't workable. (Staples is the highest resale in the program at around 85%). You can bid on gift cards with points, but the prices just seem silly. There's nothing available in the gift cards for places we would be buying things anyway, though I could maybe see one or two places for planned larger purchases (sadly, no home improvement places).

Anybody else have an idea?

I think those points are bogus. I have about the same amount of points and haven't figured out how to do anything useful with them.

When I got 1000 points, I was able to get like a $10 Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts gift card. Which is almost useless, except my wife likes these as a treat. In theory, there were some "charity" options as well. I didn't see any 10% deduction when I redeemed.

I looked for Starbucks (decent resale, and I like to indulge from time to time), but didn't find it. When was this?

Maybe six months ago... I literally meant Starbucks or Dunkin Donuts. So if it's not there, it was probably DD! I don't remember :)

When you reach around 2,000 points you can exchange for a Verizon Debit card with money loaded on. As you gain more points you can exchange it for additional money loaded on the same debit card. Take a look at their Rewards website. I am Verizon Fios and am assuming it works across all Verizon Rewards program

And cash in the rewards points quick as they expire!
