Book or Website for Alternative Investments
« on: June 16, 2019, 02:52:15 PM »
Hi,
I just paid off my student loan and want to start investing. I'd like to find a website or book that talks about alternative investments to real estate and stocks/bonds like coins, stamps, peer to peer lending, etc. Can anybody recommend such a book or site?

None of those things are really investments. Coins and stamps take years of education to collect. Peer to peer lending is mostly a sham...

Once you have a big portfolio of stocks/bonds, then maybe you might want to look at real estate (unless it’s something you know a lot about already)

Peer to peer lending is not a sham, especially if we're talking about European P2P platforms. I understand that most of them require a European bank account so it's difficult for US investors to get access to them, but that's no reason to belittle them.

Mintos (https://www.mintos.com) is the biggest European platform, it has more than 140,000 users from all over the world, including Canada and Australia. If you google "Mintos review", you will find many blogs where investors share their experiences on this platform and on others as well. I'd say this is the best way to go about researching P2P platforms.

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
