Decided to stop wasting mental energy on that one friend who has no sense of time organization, always forgets when we're getting together, etc. I decided I can either resent her all the time for that, or I can stop making plans with her and just enjoy the times when she happens to be spontaneously available.

Oh yeah, I have that friend. :-) He told me he would come out with me and other friends twice last week and flaked out both times. I stopped inviting him to things years ago, after the time we had dinner plans and I ended up eating alone at the bar in the restaurant. He's welcome to show up to group events if he gets wind of them, but I will not make plans with him that require waiting for him to show up, that require buying tickets together, etc. etc. I don't understand how he's survived this far in life, but he's somehow even become very successful in his career in spite of being late to everything all the time, even missing flights on a regular basis.

I figure people like that can invite you to things if they want to see you.

-Removed a bunch of small containers from the fridge. All contain sauces of unknown origins. My husband is big into sauces, but rarely finishes them. It freed up a ton of containers & space.
-Re-organized our pantry, to make it easier for the teens to find snacks, get rid of waste, & cut down on clutter.

I have executive function problems (probably ADHD), and between COVID and various new work and life challenges, my organizational coping mechanisms have been failing.

I keep a big planner with timed daily columns and loads of different task lists. That hasn't been working well; too many things have been slipping through the cracks. Today, I tried time blocking in the hourly column and got 90% of today's tasks done—a huge improvement! I sincerely hope that it wasn't a fluke.

This is great! I have a teen with ADHD, and he's spending time with a tutor to learn a few different ways to plan & manage his time. He's currently using time blocking, & having more success getting ready for finals.

Hope it's successful for you!

Yay! I bet it wasn't a fluke. :-) I (don't think I) have ADHD or similar, but I do block out time for each task on my phone calendar. It helps me stay realistic about what I can get done in a day and when I need to stop one thing before getting ready for something that must be done on time (finish xyz and go shower so I can leave the house on time for appointment at X time).
