Smartphone for small hands?
« on: September 26, 2014, 08:32:35 PM »
Howdy all.

My wife's htc first just stopped functioning, we had the screen replaced last winter, and now it seem to have failed.   She has really small hands, and that seems like the upper limit on size for her.

Any recommendations for a solid phone, narrow width android devices?

Even an iphone4 is right around that limit, and phones only seem to be getting bigger and bigger.

Could get a low-end device, they tend to be smaller. otherwise it's pretty much iPhone 5C/5S or maybe the Sony Z1 compact or similar. Best to find a phone store and handle a few devices.

As a tiny-handed lady who is also looking to replace a small phone, I've come up with the Moto G (first generation, not second).  Not as awe-inspiring as others out there, but it has a stellar reputation for a budget phone and most importantly, the dimensions meet my specs.  Just a little larger than an iPhone 4!

We had looked a bit into the first gen motoX, that seems like it is not to large, and it's a bit thinner then the motoG.  with the 2nd gen Moto X coming out, we're hoping to find a good deal on the first gen from someone looking to upgrade.   A friend at work is upgrading, but he's on Version, so that won't work for us (on ATT)

My work phone is a Galaxy S2, to be honest I prefer it over any of the newer ones that they've tried to give me in last 3 years. It is nice and slim and works fine. Assume you can buy a 2nd hand one for pretty cheap.  Possible she wants to do something more sophisticated then me though (i.e. more than make phone calls, email and listen to music), in which case ignore me.

Did you check Glyde? I've been stalking them looking for a Moto X for Sprint--I think they have at least one for AT&T.

Ok, here's an actual answer.

Use the phone finder tool, there are THOUSANDS of phones out there, and probably at least 50 smartphones that would fit her hands.

The HTC One Mini is what you're looking for.

I had the same problem, and this is a less-advertised "cheaper" version of the HTC One, but the specs and performance are actually very similar. It's around the size of an iPhone and much cheaper.

Also, if your wife already has an HTC she'll be used to the shortcuts etc - bonus!

Wow, a phone plan for fifteen bucks!
