Scrap pile: What to do with it?
« on: May 11, 2016, 11:37:51 AM »
I've started cleaning closets and drawers and now have a nice stash of clothes (material) that I can't sell or give away, but I don't want to throw it away (trying to be less wasteful). I'm not terribly crafty, but I can hand-sew a little.

Ideas for what to do with random denim, flannel, etc.?

Denim can be donated to make insulation for houses, if you want to get rid of it.  Flannel is great for cleaning rags.  Edging things is the edge of my sewing ability, though, haha.

Local animal shelters are in constant need of bedding and rags.  One of ours will take rags, towels, blankets, old sweaters...empty pill bottles (remove labels).

You can also donate scrap cloth to Goodwill. They'll bundle it with other scrap cloth and make sure it's put to good use. (they recycle)
