Just tallied the January expenses and our grocery bill was $938...we weren't making substantial changes in January, only just questioning and observing it. Mind you, I did shop yesterday to fill the pantry and fridge...but we've been doing this for 18 months and I had yet to log a month under $1000. Tonight my daughter made a chickpea "curry" (not much like curry, really). Red onions, garlic, roasted red peppers, pinch of smoked paprika, spinach, tomatoes and coconut milk...all over brown rice. The roasted red peppers were probably the most expensive ingredient...but all in all a fairly low-cost meal for five people. Pretty yummy too as she pureed everything but the chickpeas, tomatoes and spinach.
